Teacher Training

To meet the need for trained teachers, the SAA has established a Teacher Development Program, with systematic, comprehensive professional training available from registered Teacher Trainers in violin, viola, cello, bass, piano, flute, harp, guitar, recorder, Suzuki in the Schools and and Suzuki Early Childhood Education. Both prospective and experienced teachers can benefit from the training offered through SAA’s Teacher Development Program. Recognition of training is provided by the SAA registration program for completed training credits.

PLEASE NOTE:  All prices reflect the class registration cost only.  They do not include lodging and transportation.

If you are not interested in training but would like to come and observe the classes, the fee is $25 a day or $100 for all five days.  Use the teacher training registration page to pay for an observation badge.  For security reasons, anyone without a visible badge may be asked to leave.

Our Covid-19 plan:

The San Diego Suzuki Institute is planning on an IN PERSON EVENT for its 2021 summer session.  We plan to do everything possible to safely host an in person institute experience.  We will follow all recommended safety guidelines at the time of our event and make adjustments to our classes in accordance with these guidelines such as outdoor classes, limiting class sizes, social distancing, requiring masks, etc...

Somewhere between 60 days and 30 days before the start of the Institute we will make a final decision regarding our ability to hold an in-person institute based on current safety guidelines. At that time, you will have one week to decide if you would like to join us for a virtual institute or if you would prefer a refund. All room and board fees will be fully refunded.

Refund Policy

In the event that you decide to cancel your registration, notify the San Diego Suzuki Institute in writing. There is a $100 non-refundable cancellation fee per participant. The payment of all other fees will be returned if email or postal notice of cancellation is received by June 15.

Due to commitments to faculty and travel plans, applicants who withdraw June 16-30 receive a 50% refund of fees (less the $100 non-refundable cancellation fee per participant).  Withdrawal July 1 and after forfeit all fees.

If enrollment is full or a teacher-training course is canceled, all registration and course fees will be refunded.
